The Maiden Voyage of Jean-Claude Cartier

On April 7, 2007 the great french explorer Jean Claude Cartier set sail for the new, undiscovered world referred to only in legend as "Britania". With only his GPS in hand and new sneakers on his feet, he ventured into the great steal bird out of the port of Halifax with his crew (see Madame Touriste). The travels were long and hard and the food was scarce - thankfully they had an inflight movie.

As the great explorer set foot on the new world he was surrounded by Brinites. They looked proper, polite and well groomed. After finding a map of Britania he began to explore and explore and explore.

Jean Claude Cartier met many friends on his travel, tried many of the traditional wild potions, and avoided the plague...in an explorers eyes this all points to a succesful voyage.

He returned home to Petit-Rocher NB with tails of his adventures, blisters on his feet, and a bag full of maps - not to mention a stamp in his passport.

Family Day Trip to Paris

Our day began early... with the alarm clock going off at 3:30am. Should it come to anyone's suprise that Madame Touriste was ready to leave in less than 10 minutes!

We took the Eurostar to Paris. The trip went by extremely quickly - as we were all sleeping in the train! We arrived at La Gare du Nord early morning. We figured the best way to see the city in so little time would be to take a bus tour. Off we were on the Hop on Hop Off Tourist Bus!

We covered most of the city before lunch. That's what I call being efficient tourists! Madame Touriste was very happy! In one morning, we saw: Musee du Louvre, Pont-Neuf, Notre Dame, Place Saint-Michel, Musee d'Orsay, Concorde, Champs-Elysee, the Eiffel Tower and lots more!

We then had a wonderful lunch at a typical french bistro near the Louvre. We had some fabulous wine! Unfortunately, Cynthia did try an expresso for the first time! Bad idea! Never give expresso to someone that is already hyper-active! The rest of the day was spent wondering through the streets (and, trying to keep up with Cynthia!). The weather was fantastic! Our favorite part of the day was certainly to wonder arond the Louvres and having a drink at an outside patio in Tuileries Garden! What a great day! This will definitely be a day to remember! Lesson of the day... think twice before offering Cynthia an expresso...

Madame Touriste

C’est en cette journée du 9 avril que nous nous sommes rendu compte que quelque chose n’allait peut être pas avec maman. Elle avait change drastiquement depuis le début du voyage. Bien oui, c’était vraiment bizarre voir même un peu inquiétant ! Maman était soudainement devenue un petit peu trop cool ! Bon, force est de constater que tout le monde était un peu déconcerté par cette nouvelle attitude. Maman ne donnait plus d’ordre, ne faisait plus les repas ni la vaisselle ! Pour ceux qui connaissent ma mère il y a de quoi être inquiet. De plus, elle était toujours prête à partir la première et jamais nous n’avons eu l’attendre. Reste a savoir si elle était vraiment excitée d’aller visiter de nouveaux lieux ou encore elle avait véritablement peur qu’on l’oublie quelque part! Elle ne fessait plus ses cheveux et se promenait partout avec son petit sac a main, son sac a dos et sa camera autour du coup. Elle portait même des espadrilles blanches! Elle ne portait plus de talons hauts… du jamais vu ! Encore plus bizarre, était son obsession à prendre des photos d’a peu prêt n’importe quoi! Une vraie touriste! Nous avons vite réalisé que nous n’étions plus en compagnie de maman mais bien de Madame Touriste! Je pense que tout le monde est d’accord pour dire que Madame Touriste est plus cool que maman! Tour de Londres & Harrods

le 9 avril

Quelle surprise que d’apprendre que nos amis d’Ottawa, JP & Liz sont venus nous surprendre ici a Londres! C’était vraiment une agréable surprise. Quoique Greg a presque pris un arrêt cardiaque ! Il était tout énervé et avait peine a croire que JP et Liz était bien réellement ici !

Tous ensembles nous sommes allées visiter la Tour de Londres! Quelle belle journée ! Le soleil était bel et bien au rendez vous. Nous avons ensuite diné a Dickens Inns situe au cœur de St. Katharines Docks. Par la suite, nous sommes allées magasiner à Harrods! Wow! Quelle expérience! Tout le monde était épaté! Papa était particulièrement impressionné par toutes les autos et chauffeur a l’extérieur du magasin. Ci-dessous quelques photos.

Easter Sunday

April 8

Today, we attended the Easter service at St.-James church in West London. We made our way to the Church in a traditional black cab and strolled along the little shops prior to the service. The weather was absolutely beautiful! The service was great and the Church was simply amazing. My dad did take quite a liking to the cars parked along the street.

That same afternoon, we visited the Parliament Buildings, Westminster Abbey and walked by 10 Downing Street. What a fabulous day! We then had our traditional Easter dinner! I am so happy to be married to a real cook! Greg prepared us a wonderful Easter Dinner. To top off this already great day, we spend the evening watching Show of Hands seating in the Goodenough Box seats at the Royal Albert Hall. This was an evening to be remembered! My parents and sister were equally impressed by the actual building and the show. Below are some pictures of our day.

Les Doucets a Londres

le 7 avril

Qui aurais cru qu'un jour la famille Doucet serait en vacances a Londres. Maman et Papa sont arrivées samedi matin. Quelle surprise que de les voirs de bonne humeure et de les entendre dire qu'ils ont bien aimé leurs envolés!

A peine arrivee a Londres... ils sont partis a l'aventure. Commencant par une visite rapide du British Museum ou ils ont vu une vraie momie suivi par un tour guidé du campus de LSE. Ensuite, nous avons marchés tout au long du Strand pour nous rendre a Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, China Town et pour finir une courte visite de la National Gallery et un petit repos a Covent Garden.
